Is it stained glass?

I purchased an old window at a garage sale last spring. The girls and I decided to make this faux stained glass.

First, we drew six designs for the panes.

Then, we taped the designs on the front side of the panes and traced the drawings with 3-D, black acrylic paint.

Then, we spent LOTS of time painting in each section with acrylics, aiming for balance and harmony.

Now, we need someone to hang it in the art room!

Landscapes

I'm a little behind in publishing -- these paintings were created last December. The girls learned about background, middle-ground, and foreground. They learned how to make clouds with tissue paper, and they learned about shadows in trees.
Another great job!

Bracelets

I bought American Girl kits for these bracelets. Marcella and Cameron enjoyed the beading.

Watercolors

A messy palette can lead to beautiful art!

Marcella experiments with lines and brush strokes.

Cameron's painting; she focused on balance and harmony.

Marcella's painting; she experimented with texture and composition.

Great job, girls!

Resist!

Marcella and Cameron had fun learning about products that resist watercolor. They used both oil pastels and masking fluid in these paintings.

As you can see, Cameron loves abstract!

Marcella removes the masking fluid from her painting.

Beautiful!

Balloon Art

Marcella is an expert at making balloon animals.

Cameron's Art Gallery

This photo was taken back in December, 2010, and shows some of Cameron's recent artwork. Note the American Girl collage on the right - that was her latest creation.
