Meow, Meow

This was a BIG project but worth the effort. The girls started by tearing lots of newspapers into 1 inch strips.

They stuffed plastic bags with newspaper to form the body, head, and tail of each cat. Then, they cut paper towel tubes and to make the front legs. They used LOTS of masking tape to get the shape just right.

Then the girls mixed the glue - flour, salt & warm water. They dipped each strip of newspaper in the glue, one at a time and put it on the cat's form.








Almost done with the newspaper strips. These had to dry overnight.







Marcella paints her cat hot pink.












We are always impatient for paint to dry... Marcella speeds up the process with a hair dryer.








Cameron's cat is blue.







Add stars and ribbons and the cats are complete!

These girls are multi-talented!

The girls and I couldn't wait to lick the bowls when we made marshmallow treats.

Cool Down!

It's been soooo hot here in SC! To cool down, the girls & I decided to make snowpeople!


What are we going to do with this bottle and this styrofoam??
And don't forget the tube sock!


First, we put rocks in the bottle to anchor it.
Next, we put the bottle in a tube sock and stuffed in some fiber filling to "round out" the snowpeople.




We cut off the top of the socks to use for hats - don't forget to dye the hats. Felt pieces make great eyes, mouths and mittens. We used embroidery floss to add a smile.

Pipe cleaners were used for arms. Add ribbon, frayed fabric and other embellishments.

Add some blush to make your snow person look chilled!


We feel cooler just looking at these cuties!
