Wooden Jewel Boxes

Looking for the perfect gems

Unfinished, round wooden boxes with brass-hinged lids from Michaels were a perfect rainy day diversion. 

Beautifully decorated with paint, gems and wooden initials. 

Felt bottom lining makes the boxes perfect for special jewelry. 

Yikes! More fairies!

It's a whole family of fairies --- including the first boy fairy seen in this area, Spencer. 

Cameron says the fairies feel right at home on the 3-D flower wall-design (see July 3, 2012 post).




However, these fairies might just get tired of hanging on the wall,  ... so ...













the girls work in the art room to create a perfect fairy house, complete with furniture and balcony!

Here's a bunk-bed with sparkly ladder and a red chair that Marcella made.

The red-painted main room, fabric-covered room, and swing-set were designed by Cameron.

The top room with French doors and balcony were created by Marcella.

And, here's the final project -- 4 and 1/2 hours later!!! --
set up on the back porch  ...

A fantastic fairy mansion... complete with playground!

Chocolate Delight!

These girls are even creative at breakfast!  Take a crepe and spread it with chocolate-hazelnut cream, add chocolate chips, chocolate sauce... then roll it up, add some more chocolate chips to the top... nuke it to soften the chips... and finally, add syrup & whipped cream to the top!  They said it was a great breakfast!   ... oh, and don't forget the hot cocoa! 

Rabbit portrait

Marcella made good use of the "How to Draw Animals" book that she got for Christmas last year.  She has practiced drawing animals, and this is her free-hand version of a very dignified rabbit portrait.  Wow!

The girls  traced the feet of American Girls dolls and turned feet into fish!  Aren't they creative!

Fairies are showing up all over my house! Give the girls some pipe-cleaners, yarn, wooden beads, and ribbon, and look what happens!

Lazy day tracings

Today the girls decided they wanted to relax and have fun with some drawing books.  They traced lots of cute images and colored them.

Marcella cut out her baby animal tracings and glued them to a piece of construction paper.  She gave her critters some cute names, too.

Roberto Britto

Here are the girls posing with a Britto sculpture onboard the Freedom of the Seas.

When we took the girls on a Royal Caribbean cruise last April, there was a Britto shop on-board.  The girls were instantly drawn to the pop artist from Brazil. 

 We bought a coloring book, but recently the girls decided to create their own homage to Britto with canvas board and acrylics.
